VISAS


As a general rule, foreign citizens who are not prohibited from entering Portugal, who have means of subsistence, a valid travel document and travel insurance, are entitled to obtain an entry visa in Portugal.

  • VISA LOOKING FOR WORK IN PORTUGAL

    The holder of a job search visa may enter and remain in Portugal in order to look for work, authorizes him to carry out a dependent work activity, until the visa expires or until the residence permit is granted.

  • CPLP VISAS (Portuguese Speaking Countries)

    Visa application regime applicable to nationals of a State where the Mobility Agreement between the Member States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries is in force.

  • “D7” VISA FOR INCOME HOLDERS

    Passive income holders, including retirees/retirees, Religious and income earners who intend to move to Portugal, can apply for a specific residence permit known as the Visa de Rendimento Passivo de Portugal, or D7 Visa, which grants a status differentiated tax, with exemption or significant reduction of income taxes for 10 years, among other advantages.

  • GOLD VISA / GOLDEN VISA

    All third-country nationals who carry out an investment activity, personally or through a company incorporated in Portugal or in another EU State and with a permanent establishment in Portugal, who meet one of the quantitative requirements and the time requirement set out in the applicable legislation , may apply for a Residence Permit for Investment Activity by way of investment in one of the following possibilities:

  • WORKER VISA

    Residence visa for carrying out a subordinate professional activity.

  • INDEPENDENT WORKER OR ENTREPRENEUR VISA

    Residence visa for the exercise of independent professional activity or for entrepreneurial emigrants, including "Startup Visa".

  • VISA FOR DIGITAL NOMADS

    Residence visa for carrying out a professional activity remotely outside the national territory / Digital Nómada

  • HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHING OR ACTIVITY

    Residence visa for teaching, highly qualified or cultural activity and highly qualified activity carried out by a subordinate worker.

  • SPORTS ACTIVITY

    Residence visa for carrying out a subordinate professional activity.

  • SEASONAL WORK VISA

    Temporary stay visa for seasonal work (eg agricultural work) for a period longer than 90 days.

  • VISA FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT

    Visa for medical treatment and to accompany a family member undergoing medical treatment.

  • RELIGIOUS VISA

    Temporary Stay Visa for stays longer than 3 months, in exceptional cases, duly substantiated.

  • FAMILY MONITORING

    Visa to accompany a family member holding a temporary stay visa.

  • TEACHING VISA

    Temporary stay visa for stays longer than 3 months; attendance of study programs, student exchange, training, unpaid professional internship, volunteering or commitments resulting from international conventions or agreements.

  • PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, INTERNSHIP OR VOLUNTEERING

    Transfer of workers between companies for training where the applicant has been an employee for more than 1 year: Temporary stay visa for the purpose of transferring workers between countries belonging to the World Trade Organization (WTO), for the provision of services or professional training.


RESIDENCE PERMIT

The residence permit is a document, issued in the form of a residence permit, which allows foreign citizens to reside in Portugal for a certain period of time or for an indefinite period.


Holders of residence permits in Portugal enjoy the same rights as Portuguese citizens, with some exceptions with regard to the exercise of public and political functions, and are entitled to:

    To family reunification; To access quality education, teaching and professional training; To carry out a subordinate or independent professional activity; To benefit from a qualified and accessible health system; of five years.
